Kavi® Members 2.8 Release Notes
What is Kavi Members?
Kavi's membership managements system is the core component of
all Kavi-powered web sites. Kavi Members has two primary
tasks. First, it serves as an organization's member database,
facilitating the membership signup and renewal process,
automating and personalizing member communication, and creating
member directories and company rosters. Secondly, Kavi Members
controls access to private web content, keeps track of members'
roles and permissions, and helps generate dynamic content for
your web site.
New in Kavi Members 2.8
-
Report Builder:
A new Super Admin tool focused on
providing Kavi Professional Services the means to create,
configure and edit custom reports based on an organization's
needs. A report is based on one of four report types: User,
Company, Individual Membership or Company Membership. A report
type helps organize and narrow down what information is being
sought when creating and managing reports. The reports,
organized by report type, can be found in the Reports and
Downloads Area.
-
Check Data Integrity:
A new Super Admin tool that
provides the means to check for known and predictable data
inconsistencies and allows these inconsistencies to be 'fixed'
so that the database is consistent with system configurations.
-
Super Admin Access: The Super Admin area has a new
Access Configuration tree diagram showing the overall
configuration of types and roles. Manage a Company and Manage
a User pages now have simple diagram views that illustrate
where types and roles come from.
Changes in Kavi Members 2.8
-
Stock reports found in the Reports and Downloads area have
been replaced by new versions created in the new Report
Builder tool, which is available to Kavi Professional Services
only. Organizations may contact Kavi representatives for
custom reports.
-
The email scheduling tools that manage email templates and
schedules have been moved into the Super Admin
area. Improvements include explicit control over email
scheduling and templates, revamped interfaces and an expanded
set of variables available in the templates. The scheduled
email queue is displayed to Admins when using the Add a
Company, Add a User, Moderate Company Membership Application
and Manage Individual Membership Application tools.
-
All system (event-triggered) emails are now manageable in the Email
Scheduler in the Super Admin area. Previously, only membership
workflow-related emails were manageable in the Email Scheduler. Now
all objects which trigger event-based email (user, company,
membership, account sign-up) are viewable and editable.
-
Email templates are now assigned to the specific object they
represent (user, company, membership, account signup). Before, they
were categorized only by user or company. Default templates that are
not relevant to the system configuration are hidden. Improved
control and flexibility allows Super Admins to distinguish between
new member signup versus renewals, and company representative versus
individual member signup, and schedule different templates for each
event.
-
The Upload Data tool in the Super Admin area contains improved
validation processes and error detection. The tool's test run
functionality has been improved, providing better communication and
verbose predictions on what the final outcome will be. The tool's
interface has been simplified, providing a global email suppression
flag setting, and user attributes are no longer inheritable from a
company during an upload.
-
The Super Admin menu has been reorganized to streamline Web site
setup and management. Tools on the menu are displayed in the order
in which configuration and data migration steps should be performed
during the setup phase, followed by tools used to maintain the site
when setup is complete.
-
-
Options from the Super Admin Manage Options page have been
integrated into other Super Admin configuration tools to form
logical groupings for Web site setup. The Manage Options page has
been moved to the Maintenance and Troubleshooting
-
During the company signup process, multiple Company Administration
and Contact Types can now be assigned to each contact person.
-
New User Signup email and form have been clarified. The original
login key is retained until it is used or expires.
-
Company Type is available for searches in the Manage User tools.
-
Membership rules have been modified so that memberships may overlap
by one day and logical units (e.g., calendar year, months) are used
to determine the terms of fixed-duration memberships.
-
Company rosters can display different link styles based on Company
Type.
-
Extensive scalability testing and performance tweaking.
