The Delete a List Type tool is used to create custom mailing list types for your organization's web site. Configuration of mailing lists depends on the list type on which the list is based, so deleteing a list type will affect every mailing list based on this type. The 'Existing Lists' field displays those lists that will be automatically updated to match the new list type settings.

List types that are currently in use by one or more lists cannot be deleted, but they can be edited. If you wish to delete a list type but the Delete link is not displayed, this indicates the list type is in use. All other lists types can be permanently removed from the database and will no longer show up in the Add a Mailing List tool.
