Kavi Mailing List Manager Help
Table of Contents
The Add Subscribers tool is used to add one or many subscriptions to a mailing list by adding subscriber's email addresses to a mailing list. Subscribers may be added individually or in a batch of up to 1000 email addresses. You can use a lookup to add an individual subscriber from the Mailing List Manager database. If you add subscribers in bulk, each subscriber will be signed up for every subscription type you select.
The Mailing List Manager handles duplicate addresses gracefully. When a duplicate email address is entered (either because that address already appears on the subscription list or because the address appears twice on the list of bulk addresses) the software ignores the request to add the duplicate, but does include that address on the list of subscribers displayed on the Preview page.

Options
- Mailing List Information—Subscription Type
-
Subscribers are added by subscription type, so select the subscription type(s) for the new subscribers. Each subscriber will have a new subscription added for each selected type, so if multiple types are selected, multiple subscriptions will be added for each subscriber.
- Regular Subscriber
Users who elect to receive every email that is to the list as a separate email.
- Digest Subscriber
Users who elect to receive batched email (i.e., many email messages rolled into one). By default, a digest subscriber receives email after 30 messages, 48 hours or 64 KB of message body text have accumulated since the last digest.
- Poster
To allow posts from an address that does not belong to a subscriber, add the address as a poster. Posters are not recognized by lists that only accept posts from moderators and are unnecessary for lists that accept posts from anyone.
- Moderator
A moderator is an individual or groups of individuals in charge of a list. Moderation helps ensure that unwanted email does not get posted to a list.
- Subscribers
-
Add the subscribers. There are two ways to add subscribers: select an existing subscriber from a list or enter email addresses for one or more subscribers.
Note
If you want to subscribe an individual who is known to have previously subscribed to a list or to exist in the Kavi® Members database, select them from the list. Otherwise, it is far more convenient to simply paste subscriber email addresses into the Add Email Addresses field provided.
- Select a Subscriber
To add a new subscription for a single subscriber already listed in the database, use the Lookup field to populate the Select Subscriber pull-down list.
- Add Email Addresses
-
To enter up to 1000 email addresses in a batch, type or paste email addresses into the Add Email Addresses text box. Addresses must be text only, and separated by a new line or a comma, e.g., bob@example.com,shirley@example.com.
You may enter both member and nonmember email addresses. When you use this text box to add subscribers, you do not need to reselect these new subscribers via the Select a Subscriber field. Kavi® Mailing List Manager will sort these addresses into members and nonmembers for you to preview on the next step.
You don't have to worry about adding duplicate subscriptions because the Mailing List Manager manages duplicate addresses for you. When a duplicate email address is entered (either because that address already appears on the subscription list or because the address appears twice on the list of bulk addresses) no error is displayed, but the software ignores the request to add the duplicate and displays the address in the list of subscribers on the Preview page.
Subscribers entered into the Add Subscribers form are sorted into members and nonmembers for you to review. You must click Save to commit these changes to the database.
You have just added subscriptions for one or more subscribers! If you want to add more subscribers, click Add More Subscribers.
